Friends Feeding Friends

Friends Feeding Friends is an outreach ministry of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

It was started in memory and in honor of Sarah Jean Deniston, whose dream at age 4 was “So people who are really hungry have food”. Our goal is to bring life to Sarah’s dream, which we believe is God’s mission, serving homeless and low income people in our community.

We meet at 9:00 AM on the 3rd Saturday of the month prepare food-to-go bags, and pack hygiene bags. We also prepare meals to serve at the Adult Interim Shelter. There is an open invitation for anyone to help us. No experience necessary. We mean it! We promise you an experience that you won’t forget.

Food Bags

Located in the entry way into the worship space (Narthex) is a basket with bags to distribute to anyone in need.  Please pick up these bags at any time and distribute them as you see fit.

On Call Volunteers

Our On Call Volunteers are people who are willing to pick up donations when the occasion arises.  They also deliver food and furniture to those in need. For more information about being an On Call Volunteer talk to Dana.

In 2018 we assisted over 22,000 people with emergency food, provided furnishings to 300+ others who transitioned from homelessness to housing, prepared and served almost 3000 hot meals at Adult Interim Shelters and provided food, blankets, sleeping bags, coats, beanies, socks, scarves and grooming supplies to homeless people throughout Contra Costa County. In addition to all this, Friends Feeding Friends Ministry supported needy families, senior adults, disabled people and Veterans as needed.
